Another day, another horrible date.

You were coming home from yet another blind date that a friend of yours had set up and it couldn't have been embarrassingly worse. Once you got to your flat, you decided to drown yourself with a bottle of wine and just as you were about to pour one, your phone was ringing. You pulled it from your pocket and saw that it was your brother Stede, probably calling to ask how the date went. You didn't want to answer it, but knowing him he'd be a worried mess if you ignored him. So instead you swiftly answered and put the phone to your ear, already dreading having to talk to him. "Hey, big bro." You greeted unenthusiasticly.

"Hey, (y/n). How'd that date go?"

And that was the question you were dreading. You sighed softly and though hesitant, you answered sarcastically. "Oh, it was just dandy. Very very peachy. Yeah, this one's a keeper." The other end was silent for a moment, except a soft sigh, and Stede spoke up. "Right, i know sarcasm when i hear it. It went horribly, didn't it?"

"Yep. And it's the last time I'm letting Lucius set me up on dates." That comment made Stede chuckle, and he quickly cleared his throat. "M'kay then. Would you like for me to come over?"

You stayed silent as you thought it over for a moment then shrugged, sighing softly before you spoke. "I guess you can if you feel obligated to."

"Alright, I'll be over there shortly then." And with that, you hung up and sighed heavily. You really didn't want to talk about it, but knowing Stede being the caring brother that he is, he would probably want to. You finally poured yourself a glass of wine to forget your troubles as you waited patiently for Stede to arrive, already wanting it to be over.

Stede finally made it to see that you were sitting on the couch, having already drank two glasses of wine and he sighed softly as he looked upon you, a worried look on his face. "Was it that bad?" He asked, a worried expression on his face. You gave him a nod and gestured to the bottle with a sly smile. "I've got plenty to spare if you wanna catch up with me."

"I'd rather not. I've got to stay sober for Mary and the kids, but thank you though." He went to the couch and sat next to you, giving another soft sigh. "Wanna talk about it?"

You were really hesitant, but after a big gulp from your glass, you finally budged. "Well...it didn't go so well and i didn't like him because he was really self centered, obnoxious and rude. He was very handsome, but i wanted to punch him in the face so bad."

Stede had listened intently to every word and frowned, putting a comforting hand on your back. "I'm sorry it didn't work out. You'll find love eventually though." He reassured you. You scoffed before taking another sip from your glass. "Really? Because at the rate this is going, i don't think that's true..."

It was silent between you two for a moment and Stede had a look of thought on his face. He smiled a bit before the silence was broken. "Why don't i have a go at setting you up? I've got a friend I've known since my university years. He's a bit older than you, but i think it'll work out."

You quirked an eyebrow and looked to him with a skeptical expression, not saying a word for a moment. "If they're the boring nerd type, consider it a no."

"Oh, he's far from it. Come on, when have I ever let you down?"

You thought about it for a moment and ran through the pros and cons of having Stede set you up on a date. On the one hand, you might actually like the person he pairs you with, but on the other hand, they might be like all the others. But seeing as you don't trust your friends with the task, you don't have a choice.

You shrugged after a moment of thinking about it and finally spoke. "I suppose I'll trust you this time around." You said unenthusiasticly with a forced smile

"Ah, great! I promise, you'll love him." He smiled brightly and glanced over at his phone for the time, then looked back to you after a moment. "Well i should be going. I'll talk to him and see if i can get you guys together soon. I'll see you."

"See ya." You were then left alone in your flat to think things over. You honestly didn't want to trust Stede with anything, let alone your love life. But you thought it wouldn't hurt and went with it. You made a mental note to wring him by the neck if this date turned out to be a flop.
