An Easy 5-Star Rated Dip!

I made this quick and easy Buffalo Chicken Dip in a cast-iron skillet with precooked, shredded chicken, onion, butter, garlic, three kinds of cheese and some chicken broth. Easy to throw together and can be eaten right out of the pan, kept warm, or baked in a dish for a party. This will be the most popular appetizer you serve. I had tortilla chips, sweet potato chips, celery, and carrot sticks to serve alongside, but anything with a crunch and neutral flavor would work well too. Even mini pita bread would be great for dipping.

How to Make Buffalo Chicken Dip

Buffalo Chicken Dip is a delicious and crowd-pleasing appetizer or snack when the creamy-spicy-satisfying tastebuds are calling! And don’t let the length of this list scare you, this buffalo dip is actually super easy to make.

For full recipe details, including an ingredients list and measurements, see the printable recipe card down below. Here is step by step what to expect when making this recipe:

Saute Onion + Garlic

In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Saute onion until they start to soften. Stir in garlic and cook until fragrant.

Make Base Dip

Pour in 1/2 cup chicken broth and cream cheese. As the cream cheese starts to melt, use a whisk to stir and create a thick melted sauce.

Add in Fillers

Pour in mozzarella cheese, hot sauce, and shredded chicken. As you stir, you may notice the dip looking a little on the dry side as the chicken gets coated in the sauce. Pour in extra chicken broth as needed to loosen the sauce. Add in salt and pepper to taste.

Top with Blue Cheese + Serve

Transfer to small baking dish or bowl, top with blue cheese and extra hot sauce if desired. Serve with chips, celery, carrot sticks, crackers or pita bread as desired.

Bake Dip (Optional)

An optional step would be to bake dip in the oven to keep warm and melt the blue cheese over top. Not required, but makes for a fancy presentation.

What Goes with Buffalo Chicken Dip?

I served my buffalo chicken dip with sweet potato chips, carrot sticks, and celery. But here are some other ideas to try!

  • Crackers.Try getting good quality buttery crackers for the best experience!
  • Pretzels. The salt from the pretzels really adds something nice to this dip.
  • Bread Slices. To help with the spiciness, even more, you could toast up and slice some french bread. It takes away some of the spice.
  • Pita Bread. Warm up some pita and you have yourself a party.
  • Waffle Fries. This may sound like a super weird one, but the potatoes paired with the chicken dip are super good and also filling.

Make-Ahead + Storage Directions

This buffalo chicken dip stays good in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 5 days.If you want it to last even longer, pop that baby in the freezer. This way it can stay good for up to a month.

To reheat, preheat the oven to 350 degrees and bake until heated through.
