Jason Kelce swiftly shut down a social media troll’s harsh criticism of his wife Kylie and her role in their family, and though he was already regarded as a fantastic dad, partner, and person, he’s garnered even more admiration from the masses with his level-headed, equitable response.

Following the retired NFL player’s commentary on Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker’s viral commencement speech, an X (formerly Twitter) user penned a nasty response attacking Kylie and their family dynamic. The tweet called the mom of three “a homemaker whose home is a mess,” with the author continuing, “Sorry but it is dirty and messy on television. Seems you’re a bit hypocritical. Y’all are going to be left with nothing but swifties. You just ruined your gig. It’s a shame.”

Unlike the critic’s disrespectful and patronizing tone, Jason defended Kylie and their home life with respect and class. Showing the world what a fantastic partner and person looks like, the former Philadelphia Eagles player began, “Responding to this, because I have seen a number of people say it. I don’t think of Kylie as a homemaker, I think of her as my wife. I think of her as a mother. She has an occupation, as do I, and we keep our house the best we can.”

Jason continued, “Our marriage is a partnership, we are equals who are figuring it out on the daily. The only expectation is that we love each other, support one another, and are committed to our family, that comes first.” Echoing his comments about Butker’s speech on his New Heights podcast, the former athlete added, “We both raise our kids, we both work, we both keep our home. It is both our faults it is messy, but such is life with 3 young children, busy schedules, and neither of us being neat freaks.”

To say Harrison Butker "dropped the ball" with his sexist speech would be a massive understatement. https://t.co/3pGbWvmhJb

Jason continued, “If being a homemaker, works for some, and that’s what they want, then hell yea, that’s awesome, more power to you. I want to be clear, I’m not downplaying that at all, but that is not our family dynamic,” Jason’s response concluded.

The attack on the Kelces follows the opinions Jason shared regarding Butker’s speech at Benedictine College on May 11, during which the 28-year-old dad of two discussed what he felt were “diabolical lies told to women” involving career pursuits outside of homemaking, as well as abortion, in vitro fertilization (IVF), surrogacy, and other divisive topics.

Jason and Travis Kelce discussed the controversial speech during the most recent episode of their shared podcast, during which Jason said Kylie was “a little bit frustrated with some of the comments.” Addressing his own thoughts on what he would say to his three daughters had they “had to sit there and listen to somebody tell them after they just earned a degree, that they should just align to be homemakers,” Jason said, “If my daughters listen to anybody tell them what to do, that they should be homemakers, then I’ve failed as a dad.”

“I don’t care who’s talking to them,” the former Eagles center continued. “If you let somebody up on a stage tell you that you can’t do that, and then you’re like, ‘Oh, f***, I guess I won’t go be a Fortune 500 CEO,’ like, you weren’t going to make it. If you don’t like what somebody says, all you’ve got to do is say, ‘Oh, that guy is a f***ing idiot,’ and then you move on,” Jason opined.

Like the Kelces are teaching Wyatt, 4, Elliotte, 3, and Bennett, 1, we also steadfastly uphold the belief that girls and women can do, be, and achieve anything they want, regardless of traditional gender roles. The same applies to men — no one should be deterred from following their dreams, no matter who is touting their opinions about what they feel are “dangerous gender ideologies,” “deadly sins,” and “diabolical lies.”
