Prinsloo grew up in Grootfontein, Namibia
Prinsloo was born in Grootfontein, Namibia in 1989 to a church minister father and bed-and-breakfast-manager mother. She attended church each week, and speaks Afrikaans as well as English.
She was discovered while on holiday in South Africa
At the age of 16, Prinsloo was vacationing in Cape Town, South Africa, with her family, when she was approached by Noelle Doukas, the daughter of Sarah Doukas and a representative of Storm Model Management. Her first modeling job was as a foot model
Prinsloo’s first job was for Italian “Vogue,” and she was thrilled for the opportunity…until she realized it was just afoot modeling job. She has worked the runway for the likes of Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Zac Posen, and more, and has been featured in countless magazines.
She got her biggest break with Victoria’s Secret in 2007
In 2007, Prinsloo began modeling for Victoria’s Secret P!nk line, geared towards teenagers. Over the years, she has moved up in the brand, and recently opened the 2014 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show for the first time. She was also featured on the highly-anticipated 2015 Victoria’s Secret swimsuit catalog.
Prinsloo started the tradition of a post-VS Fashion Show pizza party
Along with fellow Victoria’s Secret Angel Lily Aldridge, Prinsloo began the tradition of throwing a huge pizza party for the models following the brand’s big annual fashion show. In an interview following the 2014 show, she confessed that she has been taking a break from the gym, and enjoyed “tons of pizza” immediately after coming off the runway.

Prinsloo appeared in an episode of “Hawaii Five-O”
The night before the 2012 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, Prinsloo appeared on an episode of CBS’s “Hawaii Five-O.” Along with fellow angels Jacquelyn Jabionski and Jasmine Tookes, the model guest starred as herself. In the episode, a threatening letter is sent to a Victoria’s Secret swimwear shoot on the beach in Hawaii, but it is not known which of the three models is the target.
She has a hairless cat named Gollum
Prinsloo’s only roommate when she first moved to own pad in New York City in 2009 was her hairless cat, Gollum. When asked about funny anecdotes from her time in the city, she said, “I moved into my house about a year ago, and so far nothing crazy has happened here except for my hairless cat, Gollum, making me laugh every day.”

Prinsloo has admitted to an embarrassingly large swimsuit collection that she hardly ever taps into. She said, “I kind of grew up on a beach so it was always around. And I’m a total bikini hoarder – it’s a little embarrassing how many bikinis I own, and that I only wear the same two bikinis always.”

She plans to move back to Africa
In an interview, Prinsloo expressed her desire to move back to Africa. “One day I’ll definitely move to Cape Town, or Namibia, and uh, I don’t know what I want to do there but I’m gonna buy places and stuff and then just one day just try live off that, but still travel but live in Africa. I love Africa! My heart’s there.”

Prinsloo is also into photography
In addition to killing it in front of the camera, Prinsloo has proved herself behind the camera as well. In an interview with E!Online, she discussed her love of film, particularly black and white film, and her Contax G2 and Nikon F10 cameras. She said, “I think digital in some ways took away a photographer’s freeness. Not knowing what you have and seeing the pictures when you develop them is really nice. Every one comes out different, and I love the feel of film, the way it looks…I’ve learned a lot on shoots from everyone.”
